01.08.2025, 13:03

The apartment of Fakty ICTV chief editor Viktor Soroka was damaged in the Russian missile and drone strike on Kyiv on July 31, Viktor Soroka reported in a Facebook post.

“A hellish dawn. I was lucky… My neighbors bore the worse consequences of the Muscovite terror… My condolences to the families of the dead and wounded. And let’s convert our rage into donations and help for each other! Glory to the Ukrainian Armed Forces and glory to Ukraine!” Soroka wrote.

In comment to Detector Media, Viktor Soroka said that the impact occurred at approximately 4:40 a.m. The debris fell over a residential area near the Teremky subway station.

“The blast was so strong that it broke the windows and shattered balconies in what seems to be a dozen high-rise buildings across the entire neighborhood. This includes the residential complex Respublika and the nearby high-rise buildings on Teremkivska Street. For the record: this is a quiet, residential neighborhood, there is not a single military facility nearby!” the media worker emphasized.

He added that hundreds of apartments and all storefronts in the residential complex were damaged by falling debris, along with around a hundred cars, some of which burned to the ground, and a shop or an office building also burned down.

“Many garages were destroyed. I don’t know by what miracle, but there were no casualties,” the journalist said.

In Viktor Soroka's apartment, one window was shattered, another was damaged, and an interior door was torn off its hinges. According to the journalist, his neighbors' apartments, elevators, building entrances, and cars were seriously affected.

“When the air raid alert was over, many neighbors came out to help one another. Together, we cleared the front yard of broken glass pieces, helped the employees of nearby shops and cafes, shared oilcloth, water, and food. Even the nearby medical clinic offered free assistance to all victims,” said Viktor Soroka.

A window in Viktor Soroka’s apartment needs to be completely replaced due to damage to the hinges. Since the damage is minor, the journalist plans to pay for the repairs on his own or with the ICTV's support.
