“Then, when everything calmed down a bit, when there were only a few drones left, we went to bed. We woke up to a loud explosion. It was around 4:40 a.m. Our window opposite the front door was blown out,” says Natalia.
The room was littered with glass shards. When the couple got out of bed, they were injured by the shards scattered across the floor.
“We smelled smoke, looked out into the street, some car was burning, there was a huge fire. We didn’t realize that it was a house near us where a segment was destroyed, because we would have to go outside [to see],” said Natalia Mazina.
The building she lives in is about 20 meters from a high-rise building where an entire section was destroyed by the impact. Natalia says that after the explosion “we heard screams, everyone ran out into the street.”

“I started packing my laptop. I was barefoot, but I did pack my work laptop. I put on one of my husband’s shoes, the other one was something rubbery. And I ran out into the street in the nightgown I had been sleeping in,” the journalist said.
Natalia and her husband have foot injuries. In addition to the broken windows in the apartment, their car was also damaged.
The Russian missile and drone strike on Kyiv damaged the apartments of TV presenter Kateryna Soliar and former AGP Media chief editor Oksana Ruzhenkova. The Islamic Culture Centre, which includes a mosque and other facilities of the Muslim community, was also severely affected. The building of the Oleksandr Dovzhenko Film Studio was damaged as well.
