NABU says they are glad to be fighting corruption side by side with journalists

07.03.2025, 14:36

Over the past year, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) notified three individuals of suspicion of illicit enrichment based on media reports. They added that they are “glad to be standing side by side in this fight for a better future for our state,” as reported on the NABU Facebook page.

“Investigator journalists are important partners of NABU and SAP in exposing high-profile corruption. Their hard work is a significant contribution and assistance to anti-corruption agencies. We closely monitor media reports and initiate investigations based on the reported facts,” NABU stressed.

Media reports prompted NABU to issue suspicion notices about illicit enrichment to:

  • the head of the Antitrust Committee;
  • a current MP of Ukraine;
  • a former deputy head of the President's Office.

The NABU added that, in addition to the suspicion notices, proceedings have been opened and are underway against the remaining individuals who became subjects of media investigations. “We will not say who exactly these are and what stage the investigations are at, so as not to harm those. We thank every journalist who is not afraid to seek the truth, raise urgent topics and keep corrupt officials in the public eye. We are glad to be standing side by side in this fight for a better future for our state,” the National Anti-Corruption Bureau wrote.

It was reported in October 2024 that the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court had arrested an apartment belonging to the wife of Illya Vitiuk, Brigadier General and former chief of cyber security at the Security Service of Ukraine, who was featured in a Slidstvo.Info investigation, in May 2024.
