She said that the journalist was fired during an inspection by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which is coordinated by Elon Musk.

In February, Elon Musk, who now runs the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), called for a shut down of Radio Liberty and Voice of America.

It’s just radical left crazy people talking to themselves while torching $1B/year of US taxpayer money,” Elon Musk said.

The Voice of America website says that the media outlet is the largest international news broadcaster in the United States. Voice of America speaks in 45 languages to people who do not have full or adequate access to a free press.

The media outlet is fully funded by American taxpayers and is part of the US Global Media Agency.

In 1994, the US Congress passed the International Broadcasting Act. The Act requires that the work of Voice of America journalists be authoritative, accurate, objective, comprehensive, balanced, and reflecting the diversity of United States culture and society.
